Parr Excellence staff have completed dozens of fish passage projects over the last two and half decades. All of our dam removal and culvert projects have been fish passage projects. We have also worked on many other projects that provide passage over natural barriers such as waterfalls or cascading streams.
Our designs consider fish species sustained and burst swimming velocities and jumping heights. The fish species physiological limits are compared to the depth of flow, flow velocities, barrier height and Energy Dissipation Factor (EDF). EDF is an indicator of aeration due to turbulence, which affects the leaping ability of fish. These factors are evaluated at site-specific, and species-specific, low and high fish passage flows.
